The 2024 Honda CR-V Continues to Raise the Bar for Compact SUV Safety

When shopping for a new family vehicle, safety is likely at the very top of your priority list. The all-new 2024 Honda CR-V doesn't just meet expectations in this crucial area - it shatters them with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety technologies that make it a leader among compact SUVs.

At the core of the CR-V's safety prowess is Honda's latest generation of Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure design. Refined with a new upper A-pillar, reinforced side frames, and a fortified lower firewall, the ACE architecture does an outstanding job of routing and absorbing crash energy away from the cabin.

But the safety innovations don't stop there. The 2024 CR-V incorporates stiffer roof pillars, side sills, doors, and rear wheel arch and C-pillar areas to drastically improve occupant protection in severe side impacts. This enhancement clearly pays dividends - the CR-V earned the highest "Good" rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's notoriously tough updated side crash test.

Shielding you from harm goes well beyond just solid structural engineering though. The CR-V debuts new front airbag designs aimed at minimizing the risk of traumatic brain injuries, which can occur in angled frontal collisions. The driver's airbag features an innovative donut-shape to better cushion the head, while the passenger airbag has a three-chamber layout for enhanced cradling.

Rounding out the safety tech loadout are new standard knee airbags for both front passengers, as well as rear side airbags - firsts for the CR-V lineup. This comprehensive airbag system covers all angles to provide uncompromising protection.

Of course, avoiding collisions altogether is even better than withstanding them. That's where Honda's updated Sensing suite of driver aid technologies comes into play, with new wide-angle camera and radar systems that can better detect vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, road markers and more. The tech allows for expanded functionality at intersections and improved forward collision prevention.

Other new safety assists include Traffic Jam Assist, which can brake and accelerate in heavy traffic, as well as Traffic Sign Recognition to always keep you apprised of speed limits and other road signs. A Blind Spot Information System and Low-Speed Braking Control further expand the CR-V's 360-degree virtual safety bubble.

The safety story continues inside with an all-new Driver Attention Monitor to help combat distracted or drowsy driving. There's also a Rear Seat Reminder to prevent tragic hot car incidents involving children or pets. And uniquely supportive Body Stabilizing front seats reduce fatigue on long drives.

Whether evaluating government safety scores, third-party crash test performance, or comprehensive active safety tech, the 2024 Honda CR-V checks every box - and then some. For discerning families who want the ultimate in safety without compromise, the all-new CR-V deserves serious consideration.
