The 2022 Honda Civic Si unveiled this week is even better than the older Civic Si, but that's expected. It's normal for a model to get better from one generation to the next, but the new Civic Si takes it one step further and really does everything it needs to do to impress performance vehicle enthusiasts. Here are three improvements made to the new 2022 Honda Civic Si.
A more dynamic engine
The 2022 Honda Civic Si is powered by a powerful 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that develops 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. This engine has a larger power curve this year while its torque is delivered earlier, at 1,800 rpm instead of 2,100 rpm. This means you get better performance regardless of engine speed. You also get better accelerations and more confident passing.
The Honda Civic Si 2022 comes standard exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission that features a new engine speed synchronization system. The latter comes from the Type R and offers what is commonly called rev matching.
Finally, the Civic Si offers a new driving mode called Individual. The latter allows the steering, engine performance and cabin settings to be individually adjusted to your preferences. This mode joins Normal and Sport modes.
Improved suspension
The Honda Civic Si 2022 is not only more dynamic, it also offers better handling. For starters, it's stiffer in every way and its suspension has been revised to provide better stability and sharper handling.
In addition, it has firmer shocks that provide neutral handling in tight turns. Add in the standard 18-inch rims and you've got a vehicle that's not afraid of twisty roads.
A more luxurious interior
Like all 2022 Honda Civics, the Si version is more luxurious on the inside with a new dashboard design. It also offers a 9-inch center screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-inch digital screen for the dashboard.
